چکیده

Background: Aminoglycosides, particularly gentamicin, endure crucial antibiotics in the armamentarium for severe Gram-negative bacterial infections through their significant risk nephrotoxicity. Co-administration of several applicant nephroprotective agents has been investigated at preclinical level. Garlic was proved to be an oxidative stress combatant with unique antioxidant potential.Aim work: To assess renal cortex structural changes due gentamicin treatment and role aqueous garlic extract (AGE) ameliorating these changes.Material methods: Thirty-two male albino rats were assigned into four equal groups. Group I (Control group) received 0.9% NaCl solution oral gavage same volume as AGE-treated group. II (AGE treated AGE by 250 mg/kg/day. III (Gentamicin Gentamicin 80 mg/kg/day intraperitoneally. IV cotreated both AGE. The duration 21 days. Specimens all groups processed light microscopic examination. additionally prepared electron Morphometric study statistical analysis performed. Results: Examination showed proximal distal tubular necrosis, vacuolation, desquamation interstitial mononuclear cell infiltration. Masson’s trichrome staining revealed intense deposition collagen fibers. Strong positive immunoreaction caspase-3 observed. Ultrastructurally, glomerulus thickened basement membrane, destructed endothelium. Proximal convoluted cells exhibited vacuolations, distorted mitochondria nuclear chromatin condensation loss microvilli. ameliorated changes. Conclusion: Aqueous ameliorates histological caused rat cortex.

Early Renal Histological Changes in Alloxan-Induced Diabetic Rats

Diabetes mellitus is a progressive disease. Most investigators have focused on glomerular changes in diabetic kidney and non-glomerular alterations have been less attended. The present study has been conducted to find early non-glomerular histological changes in diabetic renal tissue. Twenty male Wistar rats weighting 200-250 g were used for the diabetic group. Diabetes mellitus was induced by ...

Blood chemical changes and renal histological alterations induced by gentamicin in rats.

Gentamicin is an effective widely used antibiotic, but the risk of nephrotoxicity and oxidative damage limit its long-term use. Hence, the current study aims to elucidate such hazardous effects. To achieve the study aim male Wistar albino rats (Rattus norvegicus) were exposed to gentamicin to investigate the resultant blood chemical changes and renal histological alterations. In comparison with...

Protective Effects of Co-Treatment With Hydroethanolic Extract of Origanum Vulgare on Gentamicin-Induced Renal Toxicity in Rats

Objective: Renal toxicity and ototoxicity are considered as the main side effects of aminoglycoside antibiotics, such as gentamicin. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of co-treatment by origanum vulgare extract on the gentamicin-induced renal toxicity. Methods: Adult male Wistar rats in the weight range of 200 to 250 grams were randomly assigned into four groups (n = 8): contro...
